DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Western Connecticut State University is presenting a series of forums and events to raise awareness about human trafficking.

The four-day “The Price of Life” initiative will kick off Monday with a panel discussion among specialists on women’s and children’s issues, as well as contemporary slavery issues. The group includes Frank Barnaba, president of the Barnaba Institute in Trumbull. His organization tries to raise awareness about sex trafficking and exploitation.

The panel discussion will be at Warner Hall on the university’s Midtown campus. It is free and open to the public.

The forum begins a weeklong program of events organized and sponsored by student organizations to raise awareness and inform the public about the human trafficking issue.
