BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Today marks the 27th anniversary of one of the worst construction accidents in the state’s history.
In 1987, 28 construction workers were killed when the L’Ambiance Plaza building collapsed.

The 13-story apartment tower was about half-completed when a malfunction caused a concrete floor slab to slip. That set off a chain reaction which brought down the entire building.
That type of construction has since been stopped in Connecticut.
As they do every year, a ceremony was held to remember the victims. A wreath was also laid at a memorial to the construction workers.
