Prison for New Haven woman in 2010 death

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A woman originally charged with killing a man four years ago has been sentenced to four years in prison on lesser charges stemming from narcotic violations.

Mary Pearson was originally charged with felony murder, murder, robbery and conspiracy in the killing of Kenneth Bagley, who was shot to death as he sat in his vehicle on Derby Avenue in April, 2010. Prosecutors later reduced charges against her under a plea deal that saw her testify against two men who were eventually convicted of killing the victim.

The New Haven Register reports that Pearson was sentenced Friday. A superior court judge told Bagley’s family that he could not impose a stiffer sentence because prosecutors did not prove their allegations that Pearson had set him up to be robbed and killed.
