NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An improved Metro-North schedule is coming next month, and it’s all about safe, reliable and fast-service.

Usually schedule changes are just a tweak, but Metro-North is calling this a major overhaul. Under the new time-table 83-percent of New Haven Line trains during morning peak times will run a few minutes faster.

“This train schedule supports our ongoing efforts to serve our customers while providing our maintenance forces the time they need to inspect, maintain and repair the system,” Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti said in a statement.

Gov. Malloy is also pushing Metro-North to maintain strong on-time performance goals.

The railroad said the new schedule will go into effect May 11.

Metro-North plans to begin distributing timetables by next week.
