NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Hartford woman was arraigned Wednesday on child sexual assault charges.
Elisa Ortega, 43, faces a laundry list of charges that stem from an incident New Britain police said happened in 2010.
“There are very serious charges and yes it would be a challenge for any attorney,” Ortega’s attorney Aaron Serra said Wednesday.
The charges include employing a minor in an obscene gesture, first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury by sexual contact.
But what happened exactly is unclear. Ortega could not be reached for comment at her East Hartford home, and the arrest warrant and affidavit containing the details of the case are sealed from the public at this time.
Serra tells News 8 that more information will come to light when Ortega appears in court again in early June.
Her bond was set at $75,000.
