Drama club honors Maren Sanchez

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — With a heavy heart, the drama club at Jonathan Law High School took the stage Friday night. The first weekend performance of three was without one of the cast.

Maren Sanchez would have been a puppeteer in the club’s presentation of “Little Shop of Horrors.” But the 16-year-old junior’s life ended tragically last Friday when she was stabbed to death in a stairwell of the school, allegedly by another student.

So on Friday night the drama club dedicated its performance to Sanchez.

“We shared stories, we laughed and we cried,” said drama teacher Mike Mele. “It was to just remind us (of) why we’re here and who we’re here for and the great person that Maren was … She was one of the best kids I ever worked with.”
