HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A man who has been arrested more than two dozen times is now facing charges in the deadly beating of a woman more than a year and a half ago.
Denzil Nurse is charged with murder in the death of 48-year-old Sonia Rivera.
On Sept. 27, 2012, Rivera was found lying on the ground with her pants down, with severe head injuries behind 216 Washington Street. Police believe Nurse beat her with a brick, which was found at the scene.
She died two days later.
Nurse is serving time right now at the Osborne Correctional Institution for an unrelated burglary conviction. Police said he will be served with the murder warrant on his next court appearance.
Nurse is a convicted felon with 29 previous arrests, Hartford police said.
