LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) — A former school employee was arrested Friday for possession of child porn.

Fifty-three-year-old Webster Holland, who worked for Ledyard Public Schools as a technology paraprofessional from Aug. 2012 to Dec. 2013, was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography.

Holland’s employment in the district ended Dec. 6, 2013, but “for reasons unrelated to the arrest,” according to a statement from the Ledyard Board of Education.

According to the Ledyard Police Department:

On December 13, 2013 the Ledyard Police Department and the Ledyard Resident State Trooper initiated an investigation into the discovery of questionable photographs on a computer by IT personnel of Ledyard Public Schools. The discovery had been made after a technology paraprofessional employed at the Ledyard Center School had ended his employment with the school district.

Police said Holland was arrested after state police completed a forensic examination of the school computer. Holland’s bond was set at $50,000. He was due to be arraigned in New London Superior Court.

“We share the concern that parents and the public at large will have in receiving this news,” the Board of Education said in its statement. “As a school district, Ledyard upholds high standards of our staff and anyone working with children. We recognize that staff members are in a position of significant trust and they must be held responsible for adhering to established policies and the law at all times.”
