NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Republican candidate has emerged to challenge Ted Kennedy Jr. for a Connecticut state senate seat.
Bruce Wilson Jr., a member of the Madison Board of Education, is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat representing Branford, Durham, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison and North Branford.
Wilson says as a former small business owner and local official he understands regulations and mandates are stifling economic growth and will work to alleviate those burdens and foster a business environment focused on jobs and growth.
Kennedy, the son of the late U.S. senator from Massachusetts, announced last month he would seek the Democratic nomination for the seat. Kennedy is a health care lawyer who lives in Branford.
The 12th District is represented by retiring Guilford Democrat Edward Meyer.
