Man fatally struck by train in Milford


MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was struck and killed by a train in Milford Friday morning.

An Amtrak Northeast Regional train struck the person in the area just west of the Milford station at 10:57 a.m. Friday.

Police on scene told News 8 the incident may be a suicide. The name of the person has not been released.

This is the third train/pedestrian incident in Connecticut in the past two weeks (See related coverage to left).

Amtrak says there were 244 passengers on board the train. None of them were hurt. Those passengers were transferred to a Metro-North train and taken to Grand Central.

Rail service on the New Haven Line experienced delays due to the police investigation.

In a Tweet Amtrak said service in the area is delayed.
