STORRS, Conn. (AP) — It is commencement weekend at the University of Connecticut.
The state’s flagship school plans to award more than 7,770 diplomas, including 5,400 bachelor’s degrees and 1,475 master’s degrees.
Commencement speakers include astronaut Rick Mastracchio who is delivering a recorded address Saturday to the School of Engineering.
The School of Education meanwhile chose a graduating senior to give the address. Justis Lopez is known for being the master of ceremonies and host at various campus events, including homecoming where he was crowned king. He also started his own hair-cutting business on campus.
