Winsted man charged for stabbing incident

WINSTED, Conn. (WTNH) — A 23-year-old Winsted man was arrested Friday on assault charges related to a stabbing incident at his Gilbert Clock Shop Apartments residence.

Weston Parent was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, possession of cannabis substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The alleged victim, who is listed in stable condition at Hartford Hospital, told police he and two friends were at Parent’s Wallens Street apartment when Parent suddenly started punching his head and face, police said.

Parent then went into the kitchen and came back with a knife that he used to stab the victim multiple times in his abdomen and limbs, the victim told police.

The victim and the two others were able to run out of the apartment and a neighbor then called 911, police said.

Parent is being held on $100,000 bond. The Winsted man, who police said is on probation for a 2012 robbery conviction, is scheduled to be arraigned in Bantam on Monday.
