Person killed in Rt. 80 motorcycle crash

NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A person was killed after a car struck a motorcycle on Rt 80 in North Branford, Sunday.

Police say a car was traveling westbound on Foxon Road between Totoket Road and Shaw Road when it struck the rear of a motorcycle that was also traveling westbound.

The operator of the motorcycle, 78-year-old  Ralph Crescenzi, of North Branford, suffered severe trauma from the impact of the crash. He was treated at the scene by the North Branford Fire Department before being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Crescenzi was later pronounced dead.

The operator of the car, 22-year-old  Martin Ginsburg, of Madison, was charged with manslaughter with a MV, negligent homicide with a MV, operating while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics,
possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Ginsburg was released on $100,00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 20th.

There were no other injuries.

The accident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact North Branford police.
