1 critically injured in Rt 4 head on crash

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– A head on collision, that closed Route 4 in Farmington Monday morning, left one driver in critical condition.

Police say when they responded to the crash on Farmington Avenue around 10:30 AM, they found a white four door sedan and tan pick up truck with severe damage to the front ends.

The driver of the white sedan was unresponsive and had to be extricated from the car. He was then transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star Helicopter. His injuries are severe and possibly life threatening.

The driver of the pick up had no obvious injuries but was taken to Hartford Hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

Route 4 in the area of Mountain Spring Road was closed for a few hours.

The accident is still under investigation but the road has since been reopened.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash is asked to call Farmington Police at 860-675-2400.
