Teen arrested in Middletown tech school lockdown

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — An arrest has been made after a threatening note resulted in a lockdown at Vinal Technical High School in Middletown Tuesday afternoon.

State police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance told News 8 a threatening note was found, prompting the lockdown. That happened around 1 p.m. Students say it lasted about 30 minutes.

A state Department of Education spokesman said the lockdown was lifted and students were released at the normal time.

After an initial investigation, 18-year-old Mark Andrade, of Guilford, was arrested and charged threatening and breach of peace. He was held on $10,000 bond and is set to appear in court Wednesday.

The school is part of the Connecticut technical high school system.
