WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Things are back to normal on the University of Hartford campus after a brief lockdown early Friday.

There was a car crash at the intersection of Sigourney St. and Albany Ave. shortly after midnight, and the driver took off running. Because that happened close to campus, the university sent out a ‘shelter in place notice’ to students and staff through its alert system.

A follow up message posted on the university’s website said:

There is no evidence that the people involved in this alleged incident were ever on the University campus, and the alert for our campus was precautionary in nature.

Classes are done for the year and graduation is this weekend, so there aren’t many students still on campus.

Police say they have someone in custody. It’s not clear what charges could be filed.
