Dog bite victim arrested for threats

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Here’s a bizarre “dog bites man” story. Police say a dog was with his owner when a man came up to them. The dog ended up biting him.

But here’s where things get weird. According to police, the guy who got bit then pulled a gun and threatened to kill the dog and his owner unless he paid up.

On the mugshot of Mechech Housen, you can see what looks like blood on his chin and T-shirt. Shortly before the photo was taken, police say he was cut in the face by a dog, sparking an incident that landed him in jail.

“If you can’t control your dog, you don’t deserve to have a dog,” said a local.

News 8 caught up with a different dog owner walking his pit bull on Dover Street, the same street Housen’s run-in with the man and dog happened. He says dog owners should be careful.

“I think if your dog is not trained you should definitely have your dog on a leash because there are a lot if kids that walk back and forth around here,” the local said.

But police say it was Housen — not the man and his dog that was the problem. According to police, Housen approached the man who neighbors say lives in the house with the dog.

Police say Housen asked if it was friendly and the man said yes, then police say Housen got close and the dog snapped and cut his face. Then Housen got angry and demanded 300 dollars cash on the spot to pay for medical bills from the dog’s scratches. When the man refused to give him the money, police say housen threatened to kill him and his dog.
