NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A North Branford elementary school teacher is facing charges for allegedly harassing a teenager.

Police say 43-year-old Stephanie DeFrance turned herself in at the Middletown Police Department.

DeFrance is a third grade teacher at the Totoket Valley Elementary School.

According to the arrest warrant, the harassment went on for more than two months.

The parent of the alleged victim told police her daughter was being harassed over an internet social media website.

According to police, the victim and DeFrance’s daughter dated the same boy. She allegedly sent more than 65 harassing messages, some of the messages said the boyfriend was “cheating with other girls” and referred to the victim as a “body count.”

DeFrance is now out on a $2,500 and will face a judge next week.
