Tree limb brings down telephone line in Mystic

MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Heavy rain and strong winds made for some problems Thursday.

In Mystic, the weather caused a tree limb to snap and bring down a telephone line on Essex Street.

“Because we’re right on the water here you get some heavy winds,” said deputy fire chief Anthony Manfredi. “There’s a lot in the area that need to be tended to.”

“CL&P is doing their best to attend to them and once in a while we get one that comes down and takes down some lines,” Manfredi added.

It doesn’t appear the fence on which the branch settled is damaged but if it took a direct hit on something else it could have been broken by the branch.

“You should always look above and watch out where you park and if you see something that doesn’t look great report it,” Manfredi said.

Fortunately, no one was walking along the road when the limb came down. Just a reminder you really need to watch out for what’s around you and what’s above you when the weather kicks up.
