Firefighter on leave after arrest; gun, pot found

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford firefighter is on paid leave after was arrested and found carrying a gun and marijuana, authorities said.

Police heard a disturbance near 33 Babcock St at about 10:45 Thursday night. In their investigation police say they found Julian Perez, 26, of East Hartford, with a Ruger 38 handgun and some marijuana.

He was arrested on threatening and marijuana possession charges and held on a $20,000 bond.

“Upon learning of the incident, Chief Huertas placed Perez on immediate paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley said in a news release.

Two other people were also arrested. Thomas Rivera, 28; and Lisandra Rodriguez, 41, who both live at 33 Babcock St., are charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with police.
