New London homeless man describes attack

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — Just like he was doing Friday afternoon, Anthony Little says he was talking to a friend when out of nowhere he was knocked to the ground.

In the disturbing video that captures the attack, you can hear the anger in the voice of the man throwing the punches. Much of what he says is bleeped out as Little takes hit after hit.

“I prayed, I prayed,” said Anthony “Ant Man” Little of New London. “I have scars above my eyes, here on my lip, I’ve been coughing up blood.”

Little is no upstanding citizen. In fact, he has several criminal convictions but these days Little says he tries to stay out of trouble.

“I can’t swing back anymore,” he said. “I had my evil days … sometimes you just get old and you want to find a place to sit.”

Little says he was talking to some friends who live on Tilley Street when the attack happened.

“Then the next thing you know, bam, guy came out, he was showing something (that) looked like a Taser to me and I’m like, ‘hey, dude, what what.”

The man who may have just had a cell phone in his hand does maintenance at the Tilley Street building. He wasn’t home but has claimed Little threw the first punch and missed.

Both men are charged with breach of peace. Little says he was beaten up days later by a different man. He wonders if he is targeted because he is homeless.

“I have to find new hiding places now at night because I’m really scared to like basically sleep out in the open,” Little said.

Police say Anthony’s alleged assailant could face more charges if the person who shot that video comes forward.
