Memorial Day fun on the beach and at the water park

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–From the swingsets on the beach to the splash pads and squirt guns across the street, the sounds of excitement were non-stop.

Young Michael Crisafi clearly was celebrating at Cosey Beach in East Haven.

“I’ve been collecting rocks and digging the sand,” he said.

Some of his new found friends also went back and forth from the beach to this big circle of fun.

“This water is warmer and you get to play in it and it’s fun,” said Nick D’Amato.

“It feels like a new summer. Like summer is coming too soon, but I like it.”

On this unofficial start day to summer, adults and kids celebrated as a family.

Along the beach in West Haven, it was the same summer like vibe.

“In the winter, I’m a school crossing guard and we had a rough winter with the snow and the cold, I’m happy that we got the weather,” one man said.

But on this picture perfect Memorial Day, many are taking time to remember om their own way.

“You’ve got to remember what the day is really all about,” said Bobby Keller of Milford. “I like to get my flag out there and let everybody see it. That’s what I do.”
