Boys & Girls Club’s Youth of the Year

WTNH– Shannon Healy from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and the Youth of the Year Woodlyn Joachim talk about her honor being named the 2014 Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and the State of Connecticut.

Youth of the Year is the highest honor and award any club member can receive.

She survived the 2010 Haitian Earthquake, learned English in 6 months, is the salutatorian of her class and with 23 credits from college, will enter school as a sophomore in the Fall.

As the birthplace of the Boys & Girls movement, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford has been at the forefront of youth development for more than 150 years. The organization enriches the lives of more than 5,000 of the city’s youth and their families each year.
