SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — South Windsor police arrested a woman Friday for engraving a racial epithet into her ex-boyfriend’s car in April.

Police say 39-year-old Laura Avery of Rocky Hill engraved the racial epithet into the passenger side of his car and also left him phone messages referring to him with the same offensive word.

The victim later saw his ex-girlfriend drive her Jeep Commander into the side of his car. Avery fled the area before police arrived but called the victim’s phone more than 40 times, police said.

Avery was arrested Friday for the incident and charged with intimidation, bigotry/bias, criminal mischief, threatening and reckless endangerment. She was held on $60,000 bond.
