Charity Profile: Saint Catherine Academy

WTNH– President Helen Burland and parent Nancy Fontana talk about the Knights of Columbus and News 8’s monthly charity profile: Saint Catherine Academy in Fairfield.

Saint Catherine Academy in Fairfield is a state-approved, private special education school serving students with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Curriculum is structured and multi-disciplinary. It is an individualized relationship-based program for each student to advance academically, but also to develop interpersonal competencies, independent living and vocational skills.

The program helps students develop independence and positive self-esteem /self-confidence. The goal is to develop necessary skills with potential for independent living.

Students “give back” every month by preparing several hundred PBJ sandwiches for a Bridgeport soup kitchen.
