DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — A 30-year-old Danbury man is hospitalized in critical condition after being found lying in a city street.

Police Sgt. Rory DeRocco tells the News-Times that Neri Ramirez was suffering from a serious head injury when he was found at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday on Clapboard Ridge Road.

DeRocco says it is not clear how Ramirez was injured. A motorist found him lying in the northbound lane of the road near the Hillcroft Apartments.

Ramirez was not carrying any identification when he was found, and DeRocco says it took investigators several hours to confirm his identity.
