Treating Chronic Pain

WTNH– Pain Management Specialist Dr. Dean Mariano from Midstate Medical Center discussed how radio-frequency thermal ablation treats chronic pain.

He explains how radio-frequency thermal ablation and cooled radio-frequency treat pain conditions for the spine, headache,  joints including the hip, knee and sacroiliac joints.

If there are successful diagnostic injections, pain relief can range from 50 – 100%,  patients are reevaluated 4-6 weeks after the procedure.  The treatment can last 1-2 years, sometimes longer.  The nerves may eventually regenerate and the procedure will need to be repeated.

Midstate Medical Center is located at 435 Lewis Avenue in Meriden.
