PD: man shoplifts then kidnaps teen to drive him

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A 43-year-old Wallingford man was arrested for kidnapping a teen after shoplifting from a Hamden grocery store last week.

Police say David Vega was arrested for his involvement in a larceny at a Shop Rite on May 26th and the kidnapping of a 17-year-old boy, who was ordered to drive him to a local parking lot.

Vega was charged with kidnapping, threatening, larceny and escape from custody.

He was held on $250,000 bond.
