Two remain hospitalized in Newington accident

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) —  Police have identified the victims who were hit by a pickup truck in Newington. It happened on Tuesday.

Police say 23-year-old Denissa Aviles, 43-year-old Evelinda Rodriguez and 18-year-old Jerry Torres, all three of New Britain, were walking at the intersection of Christian Lane and Kelsey Street when a pick-up truck slammed into them.

According to officials, Torres has been released from the hospital. The other two are still recovering.

The driver of the truck has been identified as 32-year-old Keith Loosemore of East Hampton. No charges have been filed against him at this time. The accident remains under investigation.

Witnesses say the driver tried to flee the scene, but was stopped by a good Samaritan who was driving a white van.
