5 injured in ambulance, car collision

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Five people were taken to the hospital after an ambulance carrying a patient was involved in a collision with a car at a West Haven intersection Monday morning.

Police say the accident, which took place at the intersection of Boston Post Road and Pruden Street, involves serious injuries.

The ambulance was traveling eastbound on Boston Post Road to the hospital with a patient from a prior emergency when it crashed with a car traveling southbound on Pruden Street.

The three ambulance personnel, a firefighter who was also on board, the original patient of the ambulance and the driver of the other car were all taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The incident is under investigation. It’s still unknown at this time who was at fault for the accident.
