Court appearance for attempted murderer

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A man accused of trying to kill his wife inside a Family Dollar store is scheduled to appear before a judge today.

51-year-old Elvin Perez-Soto is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot his wife several times inside the Park Street store. 41-year-old Sharon Rentas was hit in the chest. Perez-Soto then turned the gun on himself. Both survived and no one else was hurt.

The store’s surveillance system recorded the shooting, police said.

The couple had been married for 11years and were in the process of separating. According to court records Perez-Soto is being held on a $2.5 million bond.
