NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — North Haven police are looking for two suspected shoplifters who struck a police officer with their car Monday night.
Police were called to the Ulta beauty store on Universal Drive North for two people who were taking perfumes and putting them in a handbag.
The two were leaving the store as officers arrived. As an officer approached, they started to drive off in a gray BMW.
“The driver accelerated towards the officer striking him as he attempted to jump out of the way of the fleeing BMW,” police said in a news release. “The officer was transported to an area hospital for his non-life threatening injuries.”
Police said the car had a licenceplate starting with “1AG”. The car was last seen getting off I-91 south at Exit 6.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspects. Police are looking for a black man, about 6′ tall and 180-200 lbs. He was wearing a black blazer, red/blue shirt with white letters, and blue and white rubber sandals. He has black close-cropped hair and appears to be balding. The woman is a black or Hispanic female. She was wearing a blue shirt with a black under-shirt, jeans and sneakers, and multi-colored baseball cap.
Anyone who has information about what happened or recognizes someone in the photos is asked to call North Haven Police at 203-239-5321.
