Tax preparer sentenced for tax evasion

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH)- 51-year-old Kenneth Zito of Wethersfield was sentenced today for not paying taxes on more than $200,000 of income.

Zito was sentenced to three years probation, and must serve the first 10 months in home confinement.

Zito must also pay a fine and perform 300 hours of community service.

According to court documents Zito worked at a financial services firm owned by his father, “Daniel Zito Financial Services” in South Windsor.

The documents show between 2007 and 2009 Zito cashed checks from clients, without declaring them on his federal income tax return.

Zito pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion back on March 18.
