Online Content Specialist

Who's Got Your Back New Haven Green

Don’t just read the news – write it and share it at News 8.

WTNH News 8 is looking for an Online Content Specialist to join our web team. You’ll help write and edit the news stories that you see on the website, as well as our specialty weather and sports microsites, WXedge.com and SportzEdge.com.

Job Duties:

Duties include writing breaking news information that comes into the assignment desk, writing news and sports items from news releases, and editing broadcast copy for the website. We may even send you out on your own to cover a story. When you’re not writing, you may be producing photo galleries, infographics, or other elements to help tell a story better.

Social media is part of the plan for success, so you’ll be helping to share our stories via Facebook, Twitter, text and e-mail.

Ability to hit deadlines is a must.

Qualifications:

Don’t know coding for the web? You don’t need to know HTML markup (but it could help). Our tools are easy to use so you’ll get up to speed quickly. If you know how to use WordPress, you’re halfway there. If you’ve used Photoshop or GIMP, and Final Cut, that’ll help too.

Be flexible in your schedule. You could work nights, weekends, and holidays.

You’ll need to have strong writing, communication and organizational skills. A college degree with relevant coursework is preferred. Please submit a cover letter, resume and writing samples to webjobs@wtnh.com or mail to:
