WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Some parents are scrambling to make other arrangements for their children after a Head Start program in Waterbury announced it is closing.
Concerned parents contacted News 8 after they received a letter that said New Opportunities on Elm street is shutting down its Head Start program after losing government funding.
Parents said dozens of employees will be out of jobs by the end of the month, and more than 100 children will have to attend other schools.
“It’s really hard for the parents that are working now, have to fit in looking into child care for their child and working at the same time,” Waterbury resident Maria Hulse said.
News 8 has reached out to New Opportunities to get their side of the story, and are waiting to hear back.
