New Haven Trying Out Unique Dining Approach

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)- The Town Green District, and City of New Haven and Downtown Merchants are rolling out a program that will allow restaurants to offer outdoor dining areas.

The “Terrasse” program is being tested, Monday, June 16. It will allow restaurants to use metered parking spaces as dining areas.

The outdoor dining areas will all look similar, with planters, vibrant furniture and umbrellas.

Win Davis, Executive Director for the Town Green District says, “We’re very excited to offer downtown restaurants this innovative program to provide additional space for enjoyable patio dining this season.”

The program is expected to run until November 15, or until it snows.

Space is limited to a first-come-first-served basis. Interested restaurants should visit to look at guidelines, and register.
