Six teens charged in three assaults in New Britain

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH)–Six teens have been charged in three assaults over the course of three days. Police are trying to determine whether or not this is a result of the “Knockout” game, in which many kids sneak up on strangers and deliver a haymaker punch trying to knock that person to the ground.

Police said the three victims were all over the age of 60.

The incidents happened in the are of the YWCA on Franklin Square. Police said it happened once on Friday and twice on Sunday.

Police checked security video to make the arrests. Charges range from third-degree assault on an elderly person to breach of peace and conspiracy to commit an assault.

The teens arrested were between 13 and 17 years old.

“When you’re talking about falling to the ground on pavement, certainly serious injury can happen. They are facing assault charges on persons over 60,” said a New Britain police officer.
