Couple arrested for string of shoreline burglaries

CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say a girlfriend and boyfriend are behind a string of burglaries along the shoreline.

The couple in cahoots — 32-year-old Brandy Williamson and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Anthony Guddo — apparently turned on each other, court documents show.

Williamson talked to police before Guddo pointed the finger at her. Williamson was arrested two days earlier. Guddo’s already behind bars for a different crime.

The Patel family, which owns Clinton’s Town & Country Market, was one of the victims. The couple allegedly broke into their story twice in two weeks.

“They took cigarettes and they took change, a whole box of change, was just gone and they took some cash,” said Dharti Patel, the owner’s daughter. “I’m glad that they actually found them.”

But some of this could have been avoided. According to court documents, Guddo was supposed to have a GPS tracking system on him at the time of the alleged burglaries, but he cut off the bracelet and threw it into the ocean.

“More than financial, it was emotional because we live here,” Patel said. “We know everyone here.”

The Patels are relieved about the arrests but they didn’t take any chances over the past and installed a new security system.
