UConn small forward DeAndre Daniels was selected with the No. 37 overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Daniels averaged 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season for the Huskies. He was outstanding in UConn’s run to the NCAA championship, scoring 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Sweet 16 win over Iowa State.

“It’s a dream come true,” Daniels said. “This is what I always wanted to do as a little kid. I’m just excited right now. When I heard my name called, I just started crying and hugging everybody.”

“I worked out for Toronto, and I loved it out there. It’s a great team, great city. They have great fans. I’m just excited to get there and go to work. I’m going to go in there with a chip on my shoulder.”
