Author assaulted outside New Haven hotel

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– An award winning author from Ireland was assaulted in New Haven Saturday night.

Police say Colum McCann, 49, was attacked by a man outside a downtown hotel.

McCann suffered a concussion and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated.

He has since returned to his home in New York City.

No arrests have been made at this time.
