Firefighter finds out she’s pregnant after assault arrest

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A firefighter and her husband were arrested for a domestic dispute and when they went to the hospital they got some big news.

It’s unknown what the couple was fighting about but their mug shots tell a story of how bad it was. Both of them bloodied.

They were taken to different hospitals to be treated and that’s where this story takes a twist.

According to the police report, the West Hartford firefighter Marsha McCurdy went to the hospital for her injuries and found out she was pregnant.

West Hartford Police say it started late Tuesday night at the apartments on 100 Kane street. They say a call came in about a domestic dispute and when they got on scene, it was unclear how the fight started but Vincent Adell had serious injuries to his face and his wife, McCurdy was bleeding from her lip.

He says it was clear neither was just trying to defend themselves as both were fighting.

“It appeared that that in fact we had two mutual combatants who were just duking it out in a domestic violence situation, then yes they both get arrested,” said Lt. Stephen Estes, West Hartford.

Both McCurdy and Adell were charged with assault. He was charged with assaulting a pregnant woman.

Both were held on a $25,000 bond.
