Hoax leads police to respond to Ellington home

ELLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)–An apparent hoax led state police to respond to an incident on 28 Brockway Road in Ellington on Friday night.

Police said they received reports of a domestic disturbance that resulted in one victim suffering a gun shot wound, and possible hostages involved.

It was later determined that the incident did not occur.

All occupants of the residence were accounted for, and no injuries occured.

The incident is still under investigation.

Police said these types of hoaxes have become a dangerous trend. People call in to emergency services with a bogus claim just to trigger a response.

In April, multiple incidents were reported throughout Connecticut.
