EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — After a washed-out and rainy Fourth of July holiday, most people said they woke up Saturday with one thing on their minds.
“When I woke up at 6 in the morning, I said I wanted to go to the beach have a good time and enjoy this Saturday,” said Bryan Batista.
“Were headed to cozy beach,” said Spencer Shore of Hamden.
With beach balls, towels and umbrella in hand, Shore and his party of two claimed their spot in the sand early. Cosey Beach was filling up quickly, this sunny beautiful day, the polar opposite of what you saw just 24-hours before.
“So we thought we would clean the house yesterday and then come out today when it was nicer weather,” said Shore.
Some think of it Saturday’s sunshine and warm temperatures as a Fourth of July do-over of sorts. As they stretched out on the beach, fully enjoying the sun, the only water people wanted to see was the kind they can swim in.
But there wasn’t many people getting in the water at first. At 10 a.m. it was still a bit chilly. So they tossed around the volleyball, tanned and just relaxed but as the temperatures inched up, more people would dive in.
It didn’t really matter what they were doing after yesterday’s downpours, the sun made today ripe for play.
