New Haven man dies in tree crash

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A New Haven man has died after his car struck two trees, early Sunday morning.

Police say 34-year-old Edwin Trelles Calle was driving south on Townsend Avenue around 4:46 AM, when his car left the roadway and struck a tree, and then a second tree.

Calle was pronounced dead on scene.

Police say he lived only about a block away from the crash scene.

Townsend Avenue was closed for hours while police collected evidence. It has since been reopened.

The crash is under investigation and there has been no conclusion as to the factors leading to the crash.
