Hidden camera found in changing room at Hammonasset state park

MADISON, Conn. (WTNH)–Madison police are searching for the person who planted a hidden camera inside a changing room at Hammonnaset State Park.

The camera was in plain sight in the unisex handicap accessible bathroom at the campground at Hammonasset. It was hidden in what looked like a towel hook. Thousands of people visited the park over the weekend, as the 4th of July is one of the busiest times of the year there.

“That’s sick,” said camper Jim Bowman, one of the many who use the changing rooms there.

One woman did suspect the towel hook wasn’t what it appeared to be. She told campground staff who removed it. News 8 was told there were no images saved on the camera.

“There was a little tiny camera right on the top of it. You would never even think that,” said Laurie Biddie.

Campers were told to keep an eye out for surveillance devices, but that awareness may now extend beyond their days at the beach.

Even though the signs are not up on all the restrooms and bath houses, word has quickly spread through this campground so people are aware.
