Shoplifter arrested for November fatal crash in Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– A Ridgefield woman who was arrested for shoplifting Saturday, was also charged with manslaughter in connection with a 2013 fatal crash in Danbury.

Police say 33-year-old Sarah Jesse Allen was arrested and charged with larceny at the Lord and Taylor at the Danbury Fair Mall, just before 5 p.m. Saturday.

After that arrest, she was then arrested on a warrant for a car crash that occurred in the evening of November 14th, where her passenger was killed.

In that incident, Allen was traveling south on Route 7 in Danbury around 6:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 1996 Subaru Legacy and rolled it. Her passenger, Joseph Sherman, died after being ejected from the car.

Allen was charged with reckless driving, DWI, failure to drive right, operation of MV out of class, and manslaughter with a motor vehicle.

She was held on $50,000 bond.
