BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bristol woman has a court date after police found her daughter alone in the car.

Christina Williams, 30, is facing a misdemeanor charge for Leaving a Child Unsupervised in a Motor Vehicle.

It happened Tuesday on Middle Street. Police say, the 11-year-old was fine, not in any distress, and the car wasn’t too hot. She told police, she’d asked to stay in the car while her mother shopped.

In Connecticut, it is illegal to leave a child under 12 alone in a car.

Williams is due in court on July 21st.
