BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Police and the United State Marshals Service have rounded up 26 convicted sex offenders in the Bridgeport area.
It was part of an effort to crack down on convicts who fail to comply with the state law that requires them to register or verify their addresses with authorities.
The men were taken to Bridgeport Superior Court to be processed and presented on charges.
The operation targeted about 40 men who had arrest warrants from the Bridgeport Police Department.
Most were wanted for failure to register as sex offenders but others were being sought for parole violations or sexual assault.
