WESTERLY, R.I. (WTNH)–It’s a luxurious hotel with views to die for just over the Connecticut boarder. And it’s just been named one of the best resorts in the world.
The property at the “Ocean House” itself is impressive, with 4,000 square feet inside and another 2,500 square feet outside. At $10,000 a night, CEO’s and the occasional celebrity usually stay in the Ocean House.
It also boasts a 360-degree view of Watch Hill, an exclusive section of Westerly, where another celebrity, Taylor Swift, is now a neighbor.
“I think one of the reasons we do get celebrities more and more is because the staff is extremely good about not talking about it,” said Daniel Hostettler.
It is that staff and the level of service it provides which has earned the waterfront resort a number 5 ranking in the world by Travel & Leisure magazine.
“They train very hard and work really hard to really wow the guests and deliver a level of service you don’t see in other hotels really personalized service,” Hostettler said.
That attention to detail can seen in the property itself. An original fireplace was taken apart, numbered, and rebuilt stone by stone.
“It’s the most beautiful property I”ve ever seen,” said Andrea Jacoby of South Carolina.
It’s opulence without an attitude. A place to admire, and a place to celebrate your 60th birthday, like Tony Vitale, whose daughter is a News8 producer and who spent his day there.
“If every staff member can pick one guest and do something a little special for them that can really just blow them away, then we’ve done phenomenal job,” Hostettler said.
Each guest gets a parting gift when they check out and it changes with the season. Right now it’s salt water taffy.
