LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) — A 36-year-old English teacher at Ledyard High School is facing his first court appearance after being accused of having sex with a student.

William Friskey of East Lyme is scheduled to be arraigned on two counts of second-degree sexual assault on Monday in New London Superior Court.

Ledyard police say they began investigating Friskey after they were contacted by school officials, who expressed concern about a relationship between Friskey and a female student.

Friskey posted $75,000 bail and is on administrative leave pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing. He has not returned phone messages seeking comment. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
